He was born on March 1, 1956, the first of six children born to Elizabeth "Betty" Weirick Lursen and Charles Frederick Lursen, who both preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen, his four children, Vincent Lursen Jr. (Kit), Matthew Lursen (Allie), Christina Lursen Crismon (Michael), and Kathleen Lursen, and his two grandsons Fritz and Thomas. He is also survived by his five siblings, Moryne Breckenridge (Frank), Joseph Lursen (Dawn), Susan Lursen (Mike), Patrick Lursen (Renee), and Paulette Lursen, many cousins, and multiple nieces and nephews.
He was blessed with 47 years of marriage to Ellen Brett Lursen, who he met at Spring Hill College. He raised four successful children, teaching them generosity, joviality, and warmth of spirit by his example. He served in multiple capacities in his Catholic parish.
As the patriarch, he continued the family tradition that his parents had started many years ago by bringing his family on numerous trips to Disney, where they shared countless memories. He also loved taking road trips back to Indiana, where he shared a special bond with family there. He was a "foodie" before foodies were a thing, planning trips around lunch and dinner plans and frequenting all of his favorite local Mobile area restaurants, including being a loyal regular at Bayley's before it closed. But more than anything, he loved being "Grumps" to his grandsons, his "best buds."
Visitation will be from 9-11 am on Monday, July 15, at Pine Crest Funeral Home, with the service immediately following.
