Vada May Taylor was born Vada May Dickey at her grandmother’s house on Nottingham Way in Trenton NJ on November 11, 1926. She received her degree at Rider College and pursued a career in State Civil Service reaching a position requiring her to have her own secretary. She retired (for the first time) to marry Herbert Reick Taylor. Herb’s work brought them to Mobile, Al in 1961. Herb and Vada May are survived by their two daughters, Valerie Anne Harden and Vicki Lynne Taylor. Vada May is also survived by Valerie’s husband, James Benjamin Harden and her two grandchildren; Joshua Nathaniel Harden and Jessica Rose Harden. After Herb’s death in 1970, Vada May entered the real estate field, working with both Duke, Inc, and Marie McConnell Realty, becoming a “million dollar producer”. She retired (for the second time) and entered the realm of books. She became affectionately known by many as “the book lady” both at the flea market and later at her book store, “The Book Corner” at Schillinger and Airport. She retired (for the third time) from her book store in March of 2009 and had enjoyed a life of leisure with family and friends. Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home, Dauphin Street, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2014.
