Sallie Mae Beller, 96, resident of Mobile, AL, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017. Sallie was born in Laurel, MS on April 19, 1921 to Guy and Emily Stringer. She was a wonderful mother and caregiver. Sallie had a great sense of humor and immense will power, setting a strong example of an independent woman. She was a lover of animals, especially Chihuahuas. Sallie was very involved with her Eastern Star chapter in Missouri, rising to the honor of “Worthy Matron”. Sallie was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Emily Stringer; brother, David D. Stringer; and sisters, Ruby Pearl Pilgrim and Garnet Robinson. She is survived by her daughters, Martha Gourley, Celeste Fehlig, and Cynthia (Donald) Duckworth; her granddaughters, Dawn Gourley, Kiersten Fehlig, and Emma Fehlig; and her Chihuahua, Ava. Visitation for Ms. Beller will be held from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Friday, July 21, 2017 at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, AL, with a chapel service immediately following. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
