Martha Clare Robeson Meier, 87, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2020 in Mobile, Alabama. Martha was born to Fred and Eleanor Robeson on November 27, 1932 in Washington D.C., before moving with her family to Mobile in 1940. They began attending Central Presbyterian Church, where Martha remained a member until her death. Martha was a graduate of Murphy High School, Class of 1950, and went on to graduate from Auburn (then API) in 1954. Martha taught school for thirty years, retiring in 1992. She enjoyed playing bridge, volunteering at church, and was involved with many organizations.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan (Frank) Macauley and Sharon Meier; grandson, Stuart Macaulay; sisters, Mary Alice Phillips and Betsy Watson (Dick) Kaiser; one brother, James (Caralie) Robeson; grandcats, Buddy, Matea, and Stormy Meier and Dante Macaulay; as well as nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and other cherished family and friends.
Visitation will be held on February 27, 2020 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, with a graveside service on Friday, February 28, 2020 at 10 a.m. in Pine Crest Cemetery. A gathering of friends will be held on Friday, February 28, 2020 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Central Presbyterian Church, with a Memorial Service at 2 p.m.
