Margaret Elaine Clayton, 89, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2020 in Mobile, Alabama. She was born to George Leon Reid, Sr. and Margaret Elliott Reid on January 17, 1930 in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Mrs. Clayton began as a substitute teacher for John Shaw High School in 1965 and taught for twenty five years, and then went on to work for Baker High School. She was an active member of Orchard Baptist Church. After her husband of over forty years passed away, Mrs. Clayton chose to travel extensively.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Clayton; grandson, Alan O’Neil Smith; her parents; one brother; and one sister.
Mrs. Clayton is survived by her four children, Karen (Ken) Bryant, Leon (Stephanie) Williams, Cassie (Jehad) Al-Dakka, and Lisa (Dennis) Knizley; three granddaughters, Jennifer, Ashley, and Melanie; twelve great-grandchildren, Abigail, Isaac, Chloe, Camden, Maddie, Connor, Wess, Gunnar, Sam, Sydney, Riley and Rheagen; and one great-great grandson, Liam.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Orchard Baptist Church in Mobile, Alabama, with a funeral service immediately following. Interment will be in Pine Crest West Cemetery.
