Lois Ruth “Honey” Felsman passed away peacefully on January 27, 2019 at the age of 86 surrounded by her immediate family at Westminster Village where she was a resident. She was born in Cleveland, OH on March 7, 1932.
She was visiting her aunt in east Texas in 1956 when she met the love of her life and future husband, James (Jim) Felsman. After being married in Longview, TX in 1956, they moved to Grand Isle, LA where Jim worked for Humble Oil. There, she would meet friends that would last a lifetime. After Grand Isle, they moved to Hattiesburg, MS for a short time, then on to Metairie, LA from 1964 to 2001 where she often worked as a volunteer at the Oschner Hospital Gift Shop on Jefferson Highway. She was also a substitute teacher at East Jefferson High School and worked at the Exxon Employees Federal Credit Union. In 2001, they moved to Daphne, AL. As a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, she was active with the Vocations Ministry and Bereavement Committee.
She is pre-deceased by her parents, Emmett and Dorothy Olmstead and sister Margaret (Peggy) McNeeley.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jim Felsman two sisters, Jeanne Foerstner and Michelle (George) Trabue, son, Marty (Phyllis) Felsman and daughter Margaret Ann (Charles) Anders.
She will also be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Brian Bankston, Rebecca (Lindsay) Dozier, Keith Felsman, Amy (Cody) Brown and two great grandchildren, Madison and Emma Bankston. She will also be missed by scores of cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as her extended “Grand Isle” family.
Services will be held on January 31, 2019 at Christ the King Catholic Church on Main St. in Daphne, AL. Visitation will begin at 10:00 followed by funeral Mass at 11:00. Interment will be at Belforest Catholic Cemetery in Daphne followed by lunch at Christ the King Assumption Hall.
