Kristine Carole Ziegler passed away on 05/31/19 at the age of 42. She is survived by her four beautiful children, Spencer, Aaron, Jacob, and Jack, and her husband Shawn. She also leaves behind her parents Richard and Karen Rammel, as well as her sister Emily Boswell (Matt), and numerous nieces, nephews, and other beloved family members.
All who knew Kristy have felt her sarcasm firsthand and witnessed her creativity through her blogs and countless DIY projects. Nothing brought her more joy than transforming a bleak living room into a winter wonderland for her four children, even if she worked through the night to make the magic happen.
However, if Kristy had a deep passion for anything else, it was opening her doors to animals in need. Throughout her life, Kristy sheltered and nursed dozens of animals including dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, chickens, butterflies, and possibly one squirrel.
Kristy wore many hats in her lifetime. When her boys were injured, she was a nurse. When they found an injured animal, she was a veterinarian. When friends struggled, she was a pair of open arms. When they cried she was an ear to listen. She was a daughter. A wife. A friend. A writer. And the queen of sarcasm. But before all else, she was a mom.
In honor of Kristy’s love for animals, donations can be made to your local animal shelter in lieu of flowers.
Kristy’s blog, Kids on the Homestead, can be read on the Hobby Farms website under the pen name “Kristy Rammel”.
