Judith Cornelius Gildemeister -- Went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 8, 2010, in Houston, TX. She was born on September 1, 1937, in Eden, AL to the late Alpheus Jackson Cornelius and Rosa Smith Cornelius. She was married to Juan E. Gildemeister for 31 years and at different times of her life called Germany, Peru, Ecuador, and the United States home. She was a devoted mother to her five children and a spiritual mentor to many family members and friends and faithfully supported many ministry endeavors throughout the world. She was a lifelong learner and graduated from Carson-Newman University at the age of 62 while living in Morristown, TN. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lattie Genell Morgan Lawhon. She is survived by her four sisters, Christa Fair of Anniston, AL, Wanda Brundrett of League City, TX, Bette Blackman of Denver, CO, and Ann Sands of Houston, TX; five children, Cornelia Gildemeister Miranda (Carlos) of Puebla, Mexico, Carolina Gildemeister Alexander (Thomas) of Statesville, NC, Juan Gildemeister (Amy) of Howell, MI, Carlos Gildemeister (T.J.) of Rushford, NY, and Marlis Gildemeister Nguyen (Vi) of Lawrenceville, GA; sixteen grandchildren, Erik Gildemeister, John Alexander, Zack Gildemeister, Grace Gildemeister, Rosemarie Alexander, Emilia Gildemeister, Juan Carlos Miranda, Carlos Gildemeister, Daniel Miranda, Sofia Gildemeister, Benjamin Gildemeister, Natalie Miranda, Noah Nguyen, Jonah Nguyen, Joshua Nguyen, Sophia Nguyen; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Her family would like to thank the medical staff at North Central Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, TX and the Acute Palliative Unit at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, TX for their loving care toward Judith. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at 1:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Saturday, December 18, 2010. A memorial service to celebrate Judith's life will take place at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
