Joel James Henry Whittington, age 39, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2014. He is preceded in death by his brother Thomas Jackson Whittington and paternal and maternal grandparents. He was previously employed with Austal as a pipefitter and was currently employed as a supervisor with Core Industries. He was an avid sportsman, loved to to hunt and fish. Joel is survived by his parents, James “Ricky” Whittington (Diane) and Frances Fitzgerald (Jim). He is also survived by his son Hunter Cox, niece Alexis Whittington, nephew Thomas Whittington, fiancée Lacey Broadus and her daughters Nealy Pollock and Whitney Broadus and many other family and friends. Visitation will be held at Georgetown United Methodist Church on Sunday, October 12, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the church.
