On August 2, 2022, heaven blew its trumpet and called back an angel to be with God, her maker. Jo Ann Hall Le Blanc will be mourned by so many who have been blessed to have her as a part of their lives. The joy and love she gave will be remembered so deeply within the hearts of all she touched.
Jo Ann Hall Le Blanc was born on August 2, 1946 in Mobile, Alabama at Martin De Porres Hospital to the late Joseph and Agnes Hall. She attended St. Joseph Elementary School, Most Pure Heart of Mary High School and Xavier University of New Orleans, Louisiana. While attending Xavier, she met and married her husband of nearly 55 years, Jerome C. Le Blanc of Opelousas, Louisiana. They married August 5, 1967 and through this union, two sons were born, Jerome Craig Le Blanc, Jr. and Marcus Joseph Le Blanc.
Jo Ann worked as an elementary school teacher for over 25 years. Her first year of teaching was at Holy Ghost Elementary in Opelousas, Louisiana. She stayed that year with her in-laws because Jerome had been sent to the war in Vietnam. During this time, her mother-in-law Victoria, taught her how to cook some of Jerome’s favorite dishes. When he returned home, he started working for Bell South and he moved his family to New Orleans, Louisiana. After several years, he was sent to work at headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama and then on to Atlanta, Georgia. In Atlanta, Jo Ann started working at Bob Mathis Elementary in Decatur, Georgia. She worked there until she elected to retire to take care of her parents who were still living in Mobile, Alabama. After her father died in 2008, she brought her mother to live with her in Georgia. Her mother passed in 2010 after suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
In 2014, Jerome and Jo Ann moved with Jerome, Jr and his family to Houston, Texas, where she spent her remaining days surround in love by her husband, family, and friends.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her mother, Agnes; her father, Joseph; her grandparents, Mattie and Joseph Hall, Sr.; and her sister, Geraldine L. Washington. She is survived by her son, Jerome Jr., his wife, Terry, and their children, Erica, Marie, Jerome III and Byron; her son Marcus and his wife, Monica; her brother-in-law, Ralph; her sister-in-law, Vernell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 11:00 AM, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 454 Charleston St., Mobile, AL 36603. The family will be receiving guests or visitation Saturday, August 13, 2022 at the church from 9:00 AM until time of service.
Internment will immediately following on the grounds of Catholic Cemetery, Mobile, AL.
