Griffin then began a career with the US Air Force as a civil servant in the telecommunication field which lasted over 40 years.
On June 21, 1958, he married the girl next door, Jo Anne Armour, (she lived directly across from him on Nellie Street in Mobile, AL). They raised two daughters, Dawn and Beverly, and two sons, Griffin Jr. and Matthew. He was a devoted family man and loved taking care of everyone. He was devout in his Christian faith and an ardent supporter of his Church. Griffin’s dedication was displayed as a Boy Scout leader for decades and a Mason for half a century. He was an avid woodworker, electrician, plumber, mechanic, traveler, volunteer, outdoorsman, and all-around “fixer” of anything. He was a true friend to so many people. When asked for help he was always willing to give of his time, talents, and finances.
Griffin was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Dawn. He is survived by his wife Jo Anne, his three children, Beverly Dennis (Joe), Griffin Jr. (Brenda), and Matthew (Dawn). He has 6 grandsons, Griffin III, Wyley, and Eric, and Nathaniel, Jarrod, and Parker, to carry on the Shreves name.
