Gregory Alan Howell, Sr. “Peck”, 76, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2023 at his home in Summerdale, Alabama. He was born to Don and Jeannie Howell on November 1, 1947 in Mobile, Alabama. He served with the United States National Guard, and was a Tow Boat Captain for 50+ years. Peck married the love of his life, Sylvia Blakeney, on August 31, 1966, and they remained married until she passed on December 25, 2010. Peck was a prankster – had a real zeal for life – and made life and work fun for everyone around him. He loved guns, Harleys, and hot rods. He will be greatly missed.
Peck was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Blakeney Howell; father, Don Howell; brother, Ronnie Bullard; and daughter, Tracy Howell.
He is survived by his mother, Jeannie Kate Scallan; son, Greg Howell (Kimberly); daughter, Meredith Webster (Chris); nine grandchildren: Chase, Kelsey, Tristan, Christian, Emily, Mallory, Alan, Kaelyn, and Joshua; three great-grandchildren (and a set of twins on the way; three sisters, Charlotte, Beverly, and Donna; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends.
Visitation for Peck will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, with a chapel service immediately following. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
