A physical life in the service of Christ came to an end on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at 37 years of age. Because of her surrender to Christ on May 4, 1999, her death is a continuation of life - a transition - for life and death are one.
In 1984, in New Orleans Louisiana, Genieva Elizabeth King was born at Charity Hospital on February 24. She was the last born child of the late Richard Taylor Sr. and Eileen Taylor. Although she was born in New Orleans, Genieva was a child of Mobile and graduated from Baker High School in 2002.
Genieva then attended the University of South Alabama on scholarship. Her love of children led her to obtain a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. Genieva then went on to obtain her Masters Degree from University of South Alabama in Instructional Design and Development.
Genieva began her teaching career and served as a teacher at Maryvale Elementary, Orchard Elementary, and Florence Howard Elementary. She then began her career with the Army Corps of Engineers where she was embraced by her work family and able to take advantage of her Instructional Design degree.
Genieva embraced a purpose which revolved around humility and service to others. She embraced the qualities of the Spirit of God as a Christian woman who hoped to serve her family and community.
In 2011, Genieva married her beloved Charles King. Happily married for 10 years, this union bore four children. As a united front, Genieva and Charles sought to raise their children in Christ. Genieva also had a deep passion and love for singing. She loved gospel music. To tell her story, one would have to speak of her love of music to do so appropriately.
As a wife, mother, daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, niece, and teacher, she was faithful and devoted. She taught, inspired, and supported her family and community. She did so with a quiet spirit wanting nothing more than to please God.
Genieva was preceded in death by her father; and daughter Charlotte King. Her memories will forever be cherished by her husband, Charles King; three children, Abigail Grace King, Hannah Elise King, and Josiah David King; her mother Eileen Johnston Taylor; her mother in love Gwendolyn Cunningham; her two brothers Eirick Taylor Sr.(Charlene) and Richard Taylor Jr.(Meryl); along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, the Knollwood Church family, the Dolie Temple COGIC family, and Nazaree Full Gospel Church family.
Genieva could be described as a kind, considerate, loyal, and loving person. However, she would ask you to describe her as a follower of Christ and to love and celebrate her life in Him.
Funeral service will be held from Knollwood Assembly of God on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at 12 p.m. The family will receive friends at the church from 11 a.m. until the service hour. Interment will be in Pine Crest West Cemetery. Condolences may be offered at www.radneyfuneralhome-mobile.com.
