Geneva Lopez Johnston, “Ginny”, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. She was born to Emilio Lopez, Sr. and Agapita Garza Lopez on January 3, 1938 in Laredo, Texas. She was involved with the Girl Scouts of America for a large part of her life. Ginny was an avid bowler - and she was on the Board of her bowling league – and loved gardening. She was an active parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Mobile, Alabama, where she sang in the choir. Ginny loved to travel – she was always willing to take on the open road. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, and will be greatly missed.
Ginny was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 50 years, Billy W. Johnston; her daughter, Diana Unger; parents; and four brothers.
She is survived by her three daughters, Susie Voivedich, Sabrina Agrusa (David), and Patricia McGeeHee (Roy); eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren with one on the way; two sisters, Nina Thigpen and Gracie Galindo; one brother, Lee Lopez; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends.
A Rosary will be said for Ginny at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2022 at Pine Crest Funeral Home. Visitation for Ginny will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2022 at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on Saturday, March 26, 2022, beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
