Frances Ray Long

Frances Ray Maples Long, 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 9, 2022. She was born to Raymond Francis Maples and Bessie Pearl Jackson Maples on March 7, 1937 in Mobile, Alabama. Frances Ray was an educator for over 30 years in Mobile. She was a devout Christian, and was a member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church for many decades before becoming a charter and founding member at Luke 4:18. Frances Ray enjoyed sewing, cross-stitching, collecting thimbles, word searches, puzzles – and was a voracious reader. She was generous, kind, and loving, and will be greatly missed.

Frances Ray joined in heaven the light of her life, her husband, Martin David Long, Sr., as well as her parents.

She is survived by one daughter, Jeanne Long Ingram and husband Michael; one son, Martin David Long Jr. and wife D.D.; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; extended family members and many wonderful friends.

Visitation for Frances Ray will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, with a chapel service immediately following. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
