Dorothy Mary Brunson, 88 years old and the heart and soul of our family, left her earthly home in Foley, AL to join her Father in Heaven and her husband of 70 years, W. D. Brunson. She was born in Grove Hill, AL but moved to Mobile with her parents when our Dad was shipped off to fight in World War II under General Patton and the 3rd Army division. But first and foremost, she was a Child of God and Christian, A dedicated member of Chickasaw First Baptist and later North Mobile Baptist, she was a Sunday School teacher and an inspiration to all the many lives she touched with a humor, graceful spirit and love that was true and remarkable.
She left her children, Diane Brunson Greene (O.G.), Michael Brunson (Jack Morton), Deborah Brunson Hood, and Pam Brunson Hudson (Johnny), her grand children, Jeffrey Greene (Michelle),Tracy Greene Bruner (Chuck), Renee Brunson Hollinghead (Henry), Chris Hood (Laura), Taylor Hood, Gabe Tidmore (Amber), Josh Tidmore (Summer), great grand children Cohen Greene, Hayden Greene, Sydney Greene, Bailey Brooks, Todd Brooks, Parker Hollinghead, Jordan Hollinghead (Alex), Christian Hollinghead, Wilton Campbell Hood, Holden Tidmore, Shelby Tidmore and Regan Tidmore, Brylee Tidmore, Westin Tidmore and Tucker Tidmore.
A special thank you to Mom's caregivers, Joan Daily, Sylvia Franklin, Daisy Gardner, Annie Miller and Deanna Stokes for being so compassionate and caring with our Mom. You always cared for her as if she were your own, Dot was diagnosed with Alzheimer's 8 years ago and fought a long and courageous battle. She died after nearly nine years of suffering from this unforgiving and relentless disease, especially after her husband and life mate died on May 10, 2013. We all take great comfort in knowing, without a doubt, that she now resides in Heaven, with a new body, a fresh and clear mind, and the same beautiful spirit she had throughout her years on this earth. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
