Cindy was born on August 7, 1957 in Mobile, AL. She was the oldest of three children and truly took her duty as the oldest to heart, always looking after her siblings, Cheri and Christi. Cindy received education and training related to physical therapy from Bishop State. She went on to care for a number of patients with her warm heart and way of connecting with others.
Cindy loved to read, spend time with family and to cook. After losing her sight, Cindy made sure she was still cooking through others, directing her husband Winston, step by step for the family dinner each Sunday afternoon. She and Winston married December 6, 1975 and shared a passion for horses together.
She was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother, sister, nana and friend, always thinking of others first.
Cindy is survived by her husband Winston, their three children, Jason Houston, Lauren Houston Kelly (Brian), Justin Houston (Samantha), mother, Patricia Etheridge, sister Cheri Gatlin Monk (Chip). Her memory will also be cherished by her seven grandchildren, Jordan Kelly, Jacob Kelly, Cossette Houston, Sadie Houston, Dovey Kelly, Elliette Houston and Evan Houston as well her aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her father, Nick Etheridge and her youngest sister, Christi Etheridge.
The funeral service will be held at Radney Funeral Home-Mobile on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. The family will receive friends and family from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Pine Crest West Cemetery.
