Claire Voivedich Steadman, Born February 24, 1919, in Biloxi, Mississippi, resident of Mobile since 1932. Died November 15, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Georgine Voivedich. She was the widow of Charles Benson Steadman, Sr., veteran of the 2nd World War, Greatest Generation. Also preceded in death by her son, John Anthony Steadman, Sr. Vietnam Veteran. Also preceding her in death are her sons-in-law, Frank Seelhorst, Charles Swindle, Sr. and David Wayne Faggard, and infant granddaughter, Evelyn Clarie Faggard. She was also preceded by her 9 brothers and sisters, including her twin Carl.
She was devoted to her Catholic Faith and to the Blessed Mother. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Parish since November 1954. She was very active in all her children's school years at St. Joan of Arc and was chauffer to the Sisters of Mercy during that time. Her whole life was centered on Faith and Family. Memorials may be made in Mrs. Steadman’s name to St. Joan of Arc Church.
She is survived by 6 daughters, Mary Claire Seelhorst, Nathalie Faggard, Georgene Nichols (Nick), Kathleen Swindle, Patricia Bates (Phillip), Dr. Susan Sweeney (Joe); her 4 sons, Charles Benson Steadman, Jr., (Gail), Philip Nicholas Steadman (Margaret), Dr. Edmund F. Steadman, Sr., (Joyce) and Joseph David Steadman, Sr. (Linda). Also, survived by 31 grandchildren, Frank Seelhorst, Gregory Seelhorst (Necia), Lisa Quina (Joe), Stephanie Langley (Rob), and Dr. Jeffrey Faggard (Brooks), Catherine Gilliland (Chris), Ben Steadman, Grey Nichols (Molly), Angel, John and Ashley Steadman, Kim Savage (Denny), Theresa Jones (Brian), Laura Steadman (Riza), Steadman Swindle (Amanda), Claire Powell (Chase), Tom Swindle (Kelly), Fintan Steadman, Jason Steadman (Jeanette), Dr. Daniel Steadman, Dr. Liz Steadman, Dr. Phillip Bates (Dr. Hannah), Dr. Nicholas Bates (Dr. Susan), Joseph Sweeney (Laura), Michael Sweeney (Danielle), Joseph Steadman, Jr., (Lauren), Alex Steadman (Pauline), Dr. David Steadman, Dr. Patrick Steadman (Julianna), Katherine Steadman and Will Steadman. She is also, survived by 32 great grandchildren, Anna Seelhorst , Leo Seelhorst (Hailey), Joseph and Christopher Quina, Jack, Abby and Katie Faggard, Garrett, Myles, Cameron and Mack Reed Nichols, John III., Cyndi and Ciara Steadman, Max and Ben Savage, Ethan and Olivia Jones and Graham Steadman, Ryker, Zach and Jack Swindle, Gabe, Charlie, Elliott and Margot Powell, Lydia Steadman, Victoria, Gretchen, Madeline and Claire Bates, Oakley Sweeney. Survived also by 1 great great granddaughter, Audrey Miller and one on the way.
She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews for whom she was surviving family matriarch as well. Honorary pallbearers will be Nick Nichols, Phil Bates, and Joe Sweeney. Active pallbearers will be her 20 grandsons,

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 20, 2020, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Radney Funeral Home-Mobile
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joan of Arc Church, Mobile, Alabama.
Interment will follow in Catholic Cemetery, Mobile, Alabama
