She was born on October 21, 1941 in Panama City, Florida. She raised her family in Pascagoula, where she was employed by the Pascagoula School System and enjoyed many years of working with elementary school children alongside her many teacher friends. She had a passion for painting, gardening, and most importantly, her grandchildren whom she loved to spoil with her time and her adoration.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, H.T. Smitherman and Kathleen W. Smitherman. She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Marks; daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Mike Crane of Mobile, AL; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Yvette Marks of Hurley, MS; son, David Marks of Pasagoula, MS; grandchildren, Eric Crane, Kathleen Marks and Jonathan Boothby; sister, Jo Ann Smith of Vidalia, LA; aunt and uncle, Sarah and Earl Padgett of Vero Beach, FL; as well as other cherished family and friends.
The family of Mrs. Marks wishes to express their appreciation to the sitters and hospice caregivers that have helped all of us through this last year.
In keeping with Carol’s wishes, a private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
