Carey Findley, 87, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. He was born to Clarence Findley and Wilhelmina Maynard Findley on August 26, 1937, in Port of Spain, Trinidad, and became a U.S. Citizen in 1965. Mr. Findley worked as a Longshoreman until his retirement and was a devoted member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church for 39 years, where he served faithfully until his health began to fail.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Phyllis Phillips Delmore Findley; daughter, Catherine Findley of Mobile; devoted step-daughter, Claudia A. Delmore Baker of Mobile; devoted niece, Mrs. Patsy (Selwyn) St. Lawrence of New York; three granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; and a host of friends and relatives.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at 12 p.m. at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 1854 Staples Road, Mobile, Alabama 36605. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Beans and Rice Ministry of St. Andrews Episcopal Church.
