Calvin D. Dunham, Sr. – an 86 year-old native and lifelong resident of Mobile passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2012. He retired from the Mobile County Public School System after many years of service. He will be best remembered by his many clients and the friends he made working as a private contractor in the Mobile area for over 50 years. A veteran of the United States Army, he served in the Philippines during World War II. He was a former member of Haas Avenue Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was currentley a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Dunham is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, LauVern Tanner Dunham; sons, Calvin D. Dunham, Jr. (Jamie) and Phillip Dunham, Sr. (Donna); four grandchildren, Phillip Dunham, Jr. (Denise), Jennifer DeGeer (Charlie), Katie Dunham, and 1st Lt. Carter Dunham, U.S.M.C.; five great-grandchildren, to whom he was affectionately known as “Paw-Paw-Pa,” Gavin, Tanner, and Calvin Dunham, and Sophia and Jackson DeGeer; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Monday, August 13, 2012, at 12 noon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the service hour. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be offered at www.mmgfuneralhome.com.
