Barbara Jean Slaughter (Steelman), 83, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 in Mobile, Alabama. She was born to Clyde Steelman and Beatrice Beckman on February 24, 1937 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Barbara was a graduate of Murphy High School. She was an avid Duplicate Bridge player, accomplishing the honor of ACBL Gold Life Master. Barbara loved poodles, leaving behind her precious Ocho. She was the most generous and fun-loving person you’d ever want to meet. Barbara was a great wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. Her heart and personality will leave a void in all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed.
Barbara joined her loving husband of 54 years, Charles Howard Slaughter; her parents; two sisters, Wanda and Linda; and one brother, George.
She leaves to cherish her memories her son, Marvie (Kathy) Weaver; daughter, Carolyn (William) Pullen; son, Bob (Darlene) Slaughter; granddaughters, Jennifer (Daniel) Eggers, Jamie (Danny) Britt, and Ansley Pullen; grandsons, Hunter Minto, Mitchell Slaughter, and Noah Slaughter; six great grand-children and two on the way; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2020 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, with a chapel service immediately following. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
