Barbara was originally from Washington, D.C. She and her husband moved many places in their early marriage and were finally relocated permanently to Mobile, Alabama in 1954 where Barbara remained until her death. She lived a good and holy life. She was a long-time parishioner of St. Pius X. Barbara was a hard worker and devoted her life to her 5 children. Barbara worked for the United Way from 1963-1994. She made sure that her children were educated in a Catholic school system all the way through high school. When money was scarce, she handmade their clothes and she was a beautiful seamstress. She made the best fried chicken for Sunday dinners, and no one has been able to find a comparable match. Although her daughters have tried to duplicate that recipe no one has been successful in matching her fried chicken. She lived a simple life that was filled with goodness and love. She rarely complained or asked for anything in return and was always happy with what she had, even though to many it may not have seemed a lot; to her it was enough.
The family would like to extend sincere, heartfelt appreciation to Stephanie and Wendy who helped care for her for many years. They were reliable, loving, and kind and were the best caregivers to the best mom!
A graveside service will be held at Pine Crest Cemetery on Dauphin Island Parkway on February 8 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor.
