Barbara Joan Davis was born February 8th 1936 in Mobile, Alabama and passed on March 1, 2022 at the age of 86. Known as “Joan” by her friends, she grew up in Mobile on Florida Street. In 1954 Joan graduated from Murphy High School and then attended Auburn University for 2 years before returning home to Mobile. In 1986, she moved from Mobile to Orange Beach, Alabama to be near her family. Her two children, Mike and Sissy remained extremely close to her throughout her life.
Joan, as a devout Christian, attended Orange Beach Baptist Church for many years. A fixture in Mary Gene Walker’s Sunday school class, she enjoyed reading the Bible aloud for the entire class.
Joan relished in her role as a loving parent and spoiling grandparent. Affectionately nicknamed “Bomba”, she made it well known that her children and especially her grandchildren, were the light and love of her life. Proudly bragging, she was quick to show off pictures of all of them. She never hesitated to “adopt” their friends as her own – making sure all were well fed and looked after.
In her time of need, she was lovingly attended to by her daughter-in-law, Mary Davis, and daughter, Sissy. Both unselfishly gave themselves time and effort to ensure that Joan received the love and care she needed.
Bomba will be forever missed, and remembered best as a very loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her 2 children, Robert “Mike” Davis (Mary), and Mary “Sissy” Lattof (Mitch), 2 grandchildren, Mitchell Lattof III (Abby) and Ashton Lattof and1 great-grandchild, Delaney. Visitation will be held at 1pm on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Pine Crest Funeral Home, 1939 Dauphin Island Pkwy, Mobile, Alabama 36605, followed by a service at 2pm.
