Ava Lou Easterling Dunn, 93, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017 in Picayune, MS. Mrs. Dunn was born to William Morris and Lou Ella Easterling in Richton, MS on September 16, 1923. She was a long-time resident of Mobile, AL, before moving to Carriere, MS. Ava was a hard-working woman, taking on various jobs in her life, a real “Jaqueline of All Trades”. She was a member of the “Greatest Generation” – a breed who is colored with integrity and true values. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, and canning. While in Mobile, Mrs. Dunn was a member of Fulton Road Baptist Church. Her church home in Picayune was Roseland Park Baptist Church. Ava raised four wonderful sons, an attribute to what a great lady she was. She is greatly loved and will be missed. Mrs. Dunn joined her husband of 51 years, Ralph Dunn, on Friday. She was also preceded in death by her parents, William Morris Easterling and Lou Ella Easterling; three brothers, Edwin Easterling, Vernon Easterling, and James Easterling; and four sisters, Willie Mae Odom, Mavie Hinton, Madeline Dunham, and Nell Ivy. She is survived by her sons, Bob (Linda) O’Briant, Billy (Lenia) O’Briant, Mike (Judi) Dunn, and James (Maureen) Dunn; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy (Clifford) Phillips; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other cherished family members. Visitation for Mrs. Dunn will be held from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, AL, with a chapel service immediately following at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
