Mac was born August 1, 1943 in Mobile, Alabama to Mildred McIntosh Pearce and David Esmond Starkey Pearce. Mac was raised in Mobile, Alabama and attended Mary B. Austin and Phillips Middle School. Mac was a graduate of Murphy High School Class of 1964 where he was a member of TKE Fraternity. Mac worked for several general construction and building companies in Mobile and retired from Ernest Construction in 2017. He was a member of a mystic society for over 50 years and enjoyed the Carnival season immensely. Mac was a volunteer with The Joseph Project, Outback America, and was a devoted member of St. John’s Episcopal Church. Mac formed relationships with everyone he met and enjoyed telling stories of growing up in Springhill.
Mac is survived by his wife of 38 years, Carolyn Pearce; sister, Diane Collins; Son, Bryan Pearce (Stacey) and stepchildren Jeanne Velaski (Eddy), Lynette Brown, Brent Andrews (Becky), Brett Andrews (Ambi), 16 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews and numerous close friends. Mac never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David Esmond Starkey Pearce, and Mildred McIntosh Pearce, brothers, David Esmond Pearce, Peter William Pearce, Granddaughter Brandy Greer Carrera, and niece Robin Stephens.
A visitation and celebration of life for Mac will be held December 9, 2023, at 9:30 A.M. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 1707 Government Street, Mobile, Alabama 36604, in the St. John’s Parish Hall, and the funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. in the Church. His remains will be interred in St. John’s Memorial Garden.
