I have to say, I never met a man that had such a hard time staying in the confines of his own office space when working. He just didn’t seem to understand the concept that yhe whole office was not his workspace. What it really meant was his dedication to his work, his dedication to his ability to get the job done. For over 20 years I had the pleasure of working in the same office with John. I watched him selflessly mentor countless numbers of young engineers. I will miss the after hours we shared a glass of wine or s beer and talked about solving the worlds problems. John, you were a great guy and I will miss you. Rest in peace, you were taken much too young. My thoughts are with your family.

To Johns family and friends and all the AKM family, many I have had the great opportunity to have worked closely with for several years while I was with OC Public Works.  I had the fortunate opportunity to work with John and the AKM team for several years on some complicated multi-million-dollar flood control projects which John and AKM contributed to making these projects a huge success.  John was my trusted right-hand man on almost everything, along with Zeki, Glenn and many others at AKM.  Looking back, I don’t think I made a major decision (admittingly often even minor decisions) without running it by John first. John was a rare breed with his vast amount of intuitional knowledge given his relatively young age that put pride in his work, ethics and honesty in his decision making, instilled trustworthiness with his clients with a perfect balance of confidence and humbleness that made people want to be around him. Thanks for sharing your family pics.  It’s nice to see the personal fun family side of John that I rarely got to know given our busy work schedules.  My fondest memories with John were the many very early morning drives through Starbucks before our weekly jobsite meetings where we had a short moment of time to share about our personal lives including hoppies, interests and family life outside of work - precious moments which I now realize I took for granted.  My thoughts and prayers over these last several weeks have been with the Loague family, Johns friends and awesome AKM crew.  I am truly grateful to have had the opportunity to have known and worked with one of the best.

I worked with John on and off for many years on engineering teams and remember him as a capable and diligent engineer.  And of course his very good natured spirit and that one of a kind hearty laugh!   He will be missed greatly.  I am sorry I was unable to attend the celebration of his life due to getting over a minor illness.  May we take this as a reminder to cherish our time here, those we love, and those to whom we are called to serve. To Tracy, Matthew, Jack, his loving parents and brothers,  I extend my prayers to the God of All Comfort, for your consolation and His embrace for your great loss.   





John gave me my first opportunity out of college in 2005 at AKM, where I spent my first 8 years in the water industry under his leadership.  Simply put, he is the most talented person I have ever met - a once in a generation type Engineer.   John knew everything about everything.   A larger than life personality, which everyone gravitated to.   Thank you for all the knowledge you have shared and for all the memories you have created.  You will be missed dearly, John. 

John Loague was the man.  The G.O.A.T. of Civil Engineers.  Knew everything.  Really good dude and likeable by everyone.

Best boss ever.  Taught me the fundamentals.  Never yelled at me.  Flexible.  Everything you would want from a boss/mentor.

Best Memories – Fridays.  John would take us bowling and to Ichiburi (teppan).  John bowled great.  Broke 200 a couple times.  Not only were these Friday’s fun, but they were extremely valuable.  This was when we could ask John any work related questions and he would answer them.  This accelerated our learning curve by years.
 
I still can’t believe you’re gone.  Going to miss our phone chats and definitely going to miss that loud, infectious laugh.

It was an honor to know John. My first job out of school was with AKM. John taught me how to put together an engineering planset the right way, with a whole lot of red pencil corrections along the way. It was a pleasure to work with such a talented engineer and get to play on the basketball court with such a playful man. I know he cared for his family very much. May his memory be a massive blessing to all of us! He influenced so many in such positive ways.

Johnny is my wife's uncle and my father in-law's brother. For the short amount of time that I got to know Johnny he always was smiling and laughing. When him and his family would come up to Concord to visit, we would all meet up for family gatherings and we would play cornhole in the backyard of my wife's grandparent's house with him. He was caring and kind. He will be deeply missed.    

Johnny was my uncle and my father's oldest brother. He always had a smile on his face and was pure joy and light to everyone he meets. One of my favorite memories with my uncle happened to be when we were visiting family in Washington for one of my cousin's graduation parties. My dad, Stu the jokester decided to tell this story at the party that Johnny was his twin brother. Johnny laughed and went along with it. One of the girls totally bought into it and responded with "Really!? Well, I can see how you guys are twins because you both look exactly alike." LOL!! She totally believed it and still thinks to this day that my dad and Johnny are twins. But what I remember the most was Johnny's smile and laugh that day and that memory will always stick with me. Rest In Paradise Uncle. I love you deeply. 

John was a dear friend from our college days! He made everyone smile and laugh any time he was around !❤️ I hold our friendship so close in my heart ~ sending love and prayers to the entire family - he will be so missed.
