James was born in Long Beach, California on May 11th, 1963 to his mother Dale Jordan and father James Jordan. He grew up in Irvine, California with his two older sisters Kristine Landrum and Kim Jordan Tabor who loved him dearly.
Growing up, James had many nicknames and was commonly referred to as Jamie, Jim, Joe, or Jamie Joe. He was the youngest out of three siblings and soon became an uncle to Brett Landrum and Andrea Tabor Worshill. During his youth he excelled in every sport he participated in and had a subtle but firm sense of confidence. Baseball, basketball, and football was what he spent the majority of his time playing. He had a different way of showing affection but I’m confident that he would want everyone to know that he valued each and every one of you in his own way. James was an incredible teammate, a troublesome little brother, a heartwarming companion, and a fierce friend.
While attending Irvine High School in the 80’s, Jamie met his high school sweetheart, Ruth Bruno. The two of them married and had two daughters, Alyssa and Casey Jordan. Sometime after, James met Brenda Remington and they became life partners. The two of them had lived together for the last 26 years and had a son, Hunter Remington. James was also a father to Brenda’s children, Kristin and Kelli Remington, his two step-daughters. James enjoyed an all too brief stint of being grandfather to his step-daughter Kristin’s two young boys, Reggie and Ziggy.
During his children’s adolescence James could be found umpiring or refereeing his daughter Casey’s softball and soccer games (rather passionately and biasedly I might add), coaching all of his son Hunter’s youth sports teams then continued that at Mission Viejo High School where he went to every football and baseball game for all 4 years, and attended every water polo game that Alyssa endured while screaming from the bleachers.
James passed away in his sleep on July 20th, 2021 at the age of 58. He was too young and too full of life to pass so soon. He will be remembered for his undying love of sports, his witty sense of humor, his love of chocolate chip cookies, and for his kind gentle heart that he has passed down to his children.
He loved stories, Jim Croce songs, sneaking in to the movie theater with his daughters, dogs, baseball, golfing with his son, watching cheesy reality shows with his step-daughters, all things chocolate, and quoting hilarious lines from the TV show The Office.
When they were younger, Jamie would take his daughters Alyssa and Casey to Deerfield park to do homework, practice driving for Alyssa’s driver’s license, play catch, drive by his childhood home, and visit Alyssa and Casey’s grandmother’s house. This is where we want to honor him, where he grew up.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Jamie’s hometown in Deerfield at an open field park.
Please help us celebrate the man who made his children feel incredibly lucky to call him their Dad.
