Charles Anthony Womack Sr. was born March 23, 1940 in Michigan to Charles Alexander Womack and Flor De Maria Kortright. At the age of five he moved to Puerto Rico, with his mother and two younger twin sisters, Joyce and Joan. He was a good student and played varsity basketball for Academia Santa Teresita. His favorite sport was basketball. He stayed in Puerto Rico until he joined the United States Air-force serving with the rank of Airman Basic for four years until his Honorable discharge in July 1964. In May 1969 he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering and completed his Master’s in Business degree shortly after.
After two years of courting, Charles married the love of his life Nayda Rosario on June 26, 1971. In May of 1973 they welcomed their first child, a daughter, Tamara. After losing a daughter, they were blessed to have a son, Charlie, born April of 1977. The family was made complete with the surprise arrival of their youngest daughter, Katherine, in October of 1980.
In 1975, Charles joined General Monitors Caribbean Inc. as the successful General Manager helping establish and develop the branch from the ground up. In August 1987 Charles and the family were relocated to California to continue working with General Monitors after the closing of the Puerto Rico branch. He continued to be a positive contributor to the company for decades until his retirement in 2015.
Throughout his years Charles enjoyed reading, cooking and sharing new recipes with his family and friends, tinkering in the garage finding solutions to what appeared to be unsolvable problems around the house. Everything he did, he did for his family be that building a fully functional play house, ponds, building a pool, swing set or planting some tomatoes and blueberries because it made the kids and grandkids smile.
At the end of his life he became a believer and went peacefully with the Lord on June 10, 2019 surrounded by family.
Charles is survived by his wife of 48 years Nayda, his children Tamara, Charlie, Katherine, his son-in-law Manuel, his three grandchildren Nicole, Stephanie, Justin and his beloved dog Ellie. His legacy of honesty, integrity, hard work, drive, determination and faith in Jesus and the Father lives on through each of them.
