James Edward “Buddy” Stafford, 89, died Thursday, November 26, 2015 at the Gardens at Brookridge. He was preceeded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Stafford. He leaves two sons, Richard and James and one daughter, Linda, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as many close friends. Born in Drew, Mississippi, the son of A.G. and Zelma Lorene, he moved to the Rio Grande Valley at a young age and was a lifelong resident. Mr. Stafford served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After he was discharged, he returned to the Valley and eventually retired as a Supervisory Mechanic with the McAllen Border Patrol Sector. Buddy had a love and passion for the Lord and was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church where he served as an Elder. Funeral services will be held this Monday, November 30, 2015 at 12noon at Del Angel Funeral Home, 3611 N. Taylor Rd.
