Born in Chicago to East European immigrants, her father was a patent attorney and her mother was a world famous microbiologist. Unsurprisingly, she developed into an intelligent and outspoken force of nature. She was appreciated as loving, strong, warm, assertive, spirited, loyal and artistically talented. Known as a fantastic cook, she searched online for yet another recipe the week before she passed.
Widowed from Bertram Abrahams, she successfully raised her her three young children through the 60's and 70s . She engaged in civic activities, serving as president of the PTA and of the local League of Women Voters, petitioning city hall on matters of concern. Her last vote was 5 weeks before her death, and she made sure she did it right.
She was pre-deceased by her son, Peter Abrahams. She will be missed by her son Michael Abrahams and wife Alie Berka, and by her daughter Barbara Abrahams and husband Daniel Murphy.
She leaves behind nine fiercely beloved grandchildren and step-grandchildren : Max Abrahams, Rachel Abrahams (Peter Felton), Sam Abrahams, Katie Abrahams, Michael Kong (Sarah Pauling), Sarah Kong and Ezra Kong, and step- grandchildren Miles Murphy and Maggie Murphy.
She will be missed by her brother and sister in law Avron and Sandra Spector and nephews Mark (Teresa) and Steven (Marci) Spector.
She had a long and sometimes very challenging life. May she rest in peace.
A graveside service for Rosalie will be held Monday, July 15, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Eden Memorial Park, 11500 Sepulveda Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 91345.
