With great sadness, the family of Rodney Allison Faulkner, announces his peaceful passing on January 10, 2023. Rodney was born on June 14, 1961, in Halifax, Nova Scotia—the first child of Richmond and Marion (Gourley) Faulkner.
He is survived by his loving wife, Naoko; her brother Takeo (Shigemi) Kato; and their parents Yuzo and Sachiko Kato, of Kotanbetsu, Japan. He is also survived by his family in Nova Scotia—his mother Marion, his brother Dale (Susan) and his sister Joan (Alan) Gallant. Rodney also leaves behind two nieces, Aoi (Japan) and Kristy and his nephew, Mark. He was predeceased by his father.
Rodney loved fishing, hockey, kayaking, skiing and playing his guitar. He especially enjoyed travelling and spending time with Naoko. He was a dedicated husband and family man and showed a great commitment to his students—both near and far.
He expressed unwavering positivity—despite any challenges he faced. He was an inspiration for each of his family members, and that extended to a much wider community over the course of his life. We will miss him.
Over the past year, Rodney spoke many times about the dedicated health care professionals, he had encountered. His family would like to thank these individuals for providing him with such thoughtful and compassionate care.
