With sadness, the family of Lloyd David Carr announces that he passed away peacefully on November 16, 2019 at the age of 81. Lloyd was a Husband, Father, Son, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Father In-Law, Mechanic, Race car driver, dachshund lover and friend to many.
He is predeceased by his father (William Edward Carr), Mother (Pearl Echo Plumb) wife (Joyce Catherine), brother (Elvin Wallace) and sister (Marlene). He is survived by his 101 year old step mother, Magda Carr.
Lloyd was born in Macleod Alberta in 1938, lived in Calgary, had a love for cars and became a mechanic. He married Joyce Catherine Smith in 1962. They had 3 children Cathy (Bruce), Cindy (Doug) and David (Teresa). In the 1970’s he moved his family to the West coast, settling in White Rock.
Lloyd and Joyce were married for 54 years before the unfortunate passing of Joyce in 2016. They had such love for their children and were the BEST Grandparents! They had 6 grandchildren – Kevin, Greg, Stefan, Travis, Jaimie and Alexandra. The time and attention that was given to them will never be forgotten.
With a love for camping Lloyd and Joyce moved to Cultus Lake, BC and spent the last 20 years of their lives together at Leisure Valley. They enjoyed their friends, playing darts – and boy was Lloyd a good dart player - and having their family for visits.
Lloyd was a transmission mechanic since 1961. He had his own business and worked hard to provide for his family. He worked up to age 74, until a mild stroke forced him to retire.
After Joyce’s passing in 2016, Lloyd was able to be on his own for a year living in an apartment in Abbotsford, close to his son. After another mild stroke, Lloyd lived at Crescent Gardens in White Rock where he was well fed, well taken care of and where the staff developed a genuine caring for the friendly, positive man he was. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
