

With extreme sadness, the family of John Walter Potyondi announce that he passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on March 14, 2025 at Christine Morrison Hospice at age 76 after a 4 year battle with leukemia.
John fought his cancer like a trooper and had 2 long remissions. A huge thank you to BC Cancer Society for the chemotherapy that gave him 4 extra years to spend with his family.
John was born in Prince George, BC on September 20, 1948. He is predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Irene Potyondi and his brother Don Potyondi.
John grew up in Hammond, BC and he still had childhood friends he was close to until he died. He met the love of his life, Barbara Brummitt, in high school and they tied the knot in May of 1969 and were married for 55 years.
John (aka Poppa) will be lovingly remembered by his wife Barbara Potyondi and by his 3 daughters, Sherri (Perry) Loessin, Tammy Potyondi (Cory), Angela (Dallas) Doolittle and his grandchildren, Johnny, Jason, Emma, Ryan, Davin, Ayden and his great granddaughters, Olivia and Maya.
John worked at several places in his life. He was an auto electrician and worked at Finning in Vancouver for 22 years. Later, he opened his own business in Mission, Pacific Rebuilders, that was open for many years. John was a skilled carpenter and did renos and worked as the maintenance man at Salvation Army Recovery house, and even at Home Depot.
