It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Frank Peter Dyck, of Mission, British Columbia, our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather at the age of 93. He passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 9th in Abbotsford General Hospital. His life was marked by hard work, dedication, and a profound commitment to his family.
Dad was born on December 15th 1929 in Duval, Saskatchewan to Peter and Elizabeth Dyck. He grew up to have a strong work ethic that would guide him throughout his long life.
As a young man, he moved to Steinbach, Manitoba where he married Sara with whom he had five children – three boys and 2 girls, all of whom he loved dearly. It is in Steinbach where he pursued a career in nursing and was a Paramedic.
In 1974 he decided to go on an adventure and moved his family to BC where his career changed to his ultimate passion, logging. He loved to climb the mountains, fall trees and cut shake blocks. He made many friends over a cup of coffee at the local Rocko’s Diner.
After the love of his life Sara passed, he married his new love Margaret with whom he created a beautiful life. He was a devoted and loving husband. In his later years he was excited to take his scooter to town to run errands and chit chat with whomever he could along the way.
Dad enjoyed gardening, cooking, travelling, watching wrestling but his favorite was to be with his family.
Dad was always eager to share a memory or tell a story, his wisdom was abundant. Dad was self-sufficient and independent, living on his own right to the end. He was a very proud man.
We will forever remember Dad as a kind-hearted, spirited hardworking man who never hesitated to put his family first. Though we are heartbroken by his passing, we take comfort in knowing that he lived a long fulfilling life and that his memory will live on in our hearts forever.
He is survived by his dedicated Wife Margaret, his five children, Jim (Morena), Gerald (Margaret), Allan (Trish), Sandra (Trevor) and Sheila (Kevan). He also will be remembered by his 12 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren. He leaves behind 2 Sisters, Agatha and Eva as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his Parents, Sara his Wife and many brothers and sisters.
According to Dad’s wishes there will be no funeral however, a celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.
