Sadly, the family announces the passing of Bradley James Paterson, who passed away peacefully, on August 19, 2021, at Abbotsford Regional Hospital, aged 61 years. He was born on January 7, 1960, in Surrey, BC.
Brad is lovingly remembered by his family-Rene, wife of 39 years, eldest son James and his wife Kaila and their three children, Aubree, Linden, and Austyn Paterson; daughter-in-law Kendra, and eldest grandson, Nathan Paterson; his siblings, Angela (Len Lee), Andrea (Wayne Monds), Elaine (Bruce Charlton), Bob (Stephanie Paterson), and Jodi (Dean McDonald), Sarah Paterson and three children, and Jay Jobaggy, as well as, several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces, great-nephews, and numerous friends.
He was predeceased by his youngest son Jonathan Paterson, his parents Jim and Erna Paterson, stepmom, Shirley Paterson, and his parents-in-law, Patrick and Rene Kelly, sister-in-law Lorraine Kelly, and brother-in-law Willie Kelly.
He lived in Mission from 1968 to 2021. In his work career, Brad worked as a well-sought after drywall taper, alongside his father, and son James. For several years, he operated his own business, Paterson Drywall.
Since 1982, Brad also was affiliated with the Transform Central Church in Abbotsford, BC; formerly Brad was a member of the Elks Club, Mission, BC, and currently, the Sasquatch Lions Club, Deroche, BC, as his way of to give back to community.
Brad’s favorite hobbies included travel, some fishing, hunting, camping, spending time and having fun with family and friends, riding his Harley Davidson, and eventually, enjoying riding his pimped-out golf cart, at The Glen RV resort, in Maple Falls, Washington.
On August 25, there was a private and public viewing held at the Woodlawn Funeral Home and a Celebration of Life service was held on August 27, at 2 p.m., at the Cedar Valley Mennonite Church, Mission, BC, with both long-time friends Pastors Ken Greter and Garrett Marks, officiating. Honorary Pallbearers were: Dave Blanchard, Jack McMillan, Roy Smit, Andy Fraser, Les Krutz, and Wayne Van Buskirk.
The Woodlawn Funeral Home staff also ensured live-streaming was done at the service, and the video will always be found on Youtube, by typing, “Brad Paterson’s Memorial Service.”
Cremation was done on September 3, 2021, and future burial to take place at Hatzic Cemetery. The family is forever grateful, and thanks all, for the caring and loving support provided, during such a difficult time of our loss of a wonderful, caring, loved, respected man, who was a son, brother, devoted husband, father, uncle, a grandfather, and a loyal friend.
