Born December 7, 1943 in Columbia, SC, Bill was the son of Elizabeth Atkinson Shiver and the late Clemont Clayton Shiver. He was a graduate of Camden High School, University of Georgia, Liberty University, and received his Doctorate of Ministry from Anderson Theological Seminary. Prior to his retirement, Bill had pastored Southside Baptist Church in Goodview, VA, and Eastside Baptist Ministries in Charlotte, NC. He also served as chaplain for the Charlotte Mecklenburg, Matthews, and Mint Hill Police Departments, and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
In addition to his mother of Camden, SC, Bill is survived by his wife, Angela Capell Shiver of Lake Park; his son, William Clayton Shiver, his wife, Laura Sullivan Shiver, and their children, Leah Faye Shiver and Gabriel Clayton Shiver, all of Indian Trail, NC.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday evening at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill. His funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at Pisgah Baptist Church in Rembert, SC. The Rev. Mark Hine and the Rev. Tim Worrell will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
