William was born in July of 1968 in Mint Hill, North Carolina to Ed and Harriet Penninger. He attended Clear Creek Elementary, Northeast Middle and graduated from Independence High School, Class of 1986. Following graduation, William went to work with Griffin Masonry, later to McGee Brothers, only to find his way back to Griffin where he remained for 22 years. He was a master of his craft as proven by winning the “House of the Year Project” in 2006 in Masonry Construction Magazine.
On September 7, 1991, William married his high school sweetheart, Angie McRorie, where they went on to have four beautiful children, Bailey (23), Bri (22) and Blake and Brooke (13.) William and Angie would celebrate their 29th wedding anniversary this year.
Aside from being a devoted husband and proud father, William loved to fish and deer hunt and enjoyed a special relationship with his father. He was funny and generous and had a quick wit. William’s signature trademark was wearing flip-flops and shorts year round. He will be forever missed.
In addition to his parents, wife and children, William is survived by his brother, Joshua. He enjoyed an exceptional relationship with his in-laws, Judy and J.W. McRorie, and his sister and brother-in-law, Beth and Jeff. Also surviving are numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm Wednesday, April 15, 2020, at Arlington Baptist Church.
