He was born on March 13th 1957. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Burton Sr. and Yolande Burton, son, Brandon Burton, and his brother, John Burton Jr.
He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Ashley Burton Brooks (Jon), granddaughter, Ella brooks, and sister, Debby Burton Hendrix (Stephen), and many nieces and nephews.
Richard graduated from Independence High School then began his career at the family business, Piedmont Floor Covering. He then continued in the flooring business and opened up his own company.
Richard was an avid golfer and loved the sport, but he never loved it more than when he was playing with his brother, “JB”. He spent as many weekends as possible on the golf course with numerous lifelong friends. In addition to golf, he also loved basketball, with his favorite team being the North Carolina Tar Heels.
Out of all the things he loved, the most important to him was being “Gragu” to his beautiful Ella.
Richard was funny, always laughing and would help anyone that needed it. This world will definitely miss his jokes, his smile, and his world famous BBQ sauce (he was the one and only chicken boy).
Richard's loss will be felt by all who knew him.
