Mrs. Guinn died peacefully on Monday evening, the 20th of May 2013, in Carolinas Medical Center-Main with her loving and supportive family by her side. She was 69.
Born May 12, 1944 in Sevierville, Tennessee, Mrs. Guinn was the daughter of the late Rev. Lloyd Quentin Loveday and Ruth Manning Loveday. She received her Bachelors of Art degree from Carson Newman College in May of 1965, and her Masters of Arts degree in 1967 from the University of Alabama. Mrs. Guinn was a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Tennessee. She was formerly employed as an Accountant with the V.A. Hospital in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and later as Chief Accountant at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. She retired as Chief Accountant for the City of Charlotte, with over 20 years of service. Mrs. Guinn was a member of Myers Park Presbyterian Church.
Surviving family members include her loving husband of nearly 48 years, Robert Earl Guinn of Charlotte; sister and brother-in-law, Doris and James Carver of Baton Rouge, LA; nephew, Jeffrey Carver and his wife, Cathy, and great niece and nephew, Claire and Joel Carver, all of Birmingham, AL; nephew, Robert Carver of Baton Rouge, LA; and aunt and uncle, Marilyn and William Johnson of Maryville, TN.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from seven o’clock until half-past eight o’clock Thursday evening, the 23rd of May, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill. A memorial service and celebration of Mrs. Guinn’s life is to be conducted at half-past one on Friday afternoon, the 24th of May at Myers Park Presbyterian Church, with her pastor, the Reverend Dr. Steve Eason officiating. Committal services will be held at half-past three on Friday afternoon in Sunset Memory Gardens.
The family would like to thank Terelyn Gray, who recently provided care for Evelyn; and all of the dedicated and compassionate physicians and nurses for their care during the past several years.
