M. Thomas "Tom" England passed away on April 10, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Anne Callin England; his daughters, Ann England & Laura England and husband James Onuffer; his step-daughter Alexa Marrero and husband Miguel; grandchildren Graeme & Helen Onuffer and step-granddaughters Rhiannon & Savannah Dittel. Preceded in death by his brother Donald Christie England and step-daughter Adrienne Callin.
Born in Chillicothe, Missouri, Tom was the son of Marvin Thomas and Faye (Christie) England. After graduating from La Plata High School in Missouri, he attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, graduating in 1954 with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics. Tom worked in insurance, specializing in pension planning, until his retirement in 1984 from Mutual Service Insurance Company. In his retirement, he served as a realtor for Coldwell Banker and worked on 401(k) plans for DCA.
Tom had a passion for sailing with friends and family aboard his boat, Corinthian, on Lake Superior. He enjoyed photography, classical music, current events, fix-it projects, feeding the birds (and squirrels) and his cats. He had a silly sense of humor and a gentle soul.
For many years, he was actively involved in the DFL-CIO, the local Human Rights Commission and fundraising activities of the American Heart Association.
There will be a gathering of family and friends from 11:00 am to 1:00pm on Friday, April 21 at Sunset Funeral Home (2250 St. Anthony Blvd. NE. Minneapolis) Interment in the Sunset Cemetery.
