Loretta was the devoted wife of Gilbert DeGregory for 65 years. Together they raised five children: Richard DeGregory (Louise), Diane Heaton (Eric), David DeGregory (Jennifer), Kevin DeGregory (Kristy), and Colonel Keith DeGregory (Christine). She was a loving grandmother to Clarice, Joseph, Hannah, Alyssa, Brianna, Daniel, Emma, Benjamin, Kyla and Jason. Loretta is also survived by her siblings William, Walter, George, Mary, and Jane and her great step grandchildren Logan and Karalyn.
A dedicated homemaker, Loretta balanced her role at home with various professional positions, including working as an AT&T telephone representative, for the IRS, and as a secretary. Her vibrant hobbies included arts and crafts, gardening, cooking, and playing cards, with her favorite game being canasta. She was deeply involved in her community as a member of the Miller Place Homemaker's Association and served as a Cub Scout Den Mother during her children’s formative years.
Loretta's warmth, creativity, and dedication to her family and community made a lasting impact on all who knew her.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at O. B. Davis Funeral Homes, 1001 Route 25A, Miller Place, NY 11764. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at St. Mark's RC Church, 105 Randall Rd, Shoreham, NY 11786. Following the Mass, Loretta will be interred at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3442 NY-112, Coram, NY 11727, from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM.
