Gertrude DuBois, age 98, of Ridge, New York, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. Born in Springfield Gardens, NY, she lived a long and fulfilling life, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Trudy, the queen of the family. Loving, sweet, caring, always with a smile. She wasn't a nurse by trade, but she was the best. Mom was happy and smiling to her last day. She loved to laugh and we tried to always make that happen. Trudy loved to be home looking through her "stuff", pictures and her puzzle books. Trudy loved her family and friends dearly. "The secret to a long life, dark chocolate and a smile"
Gertrude is survived by her beloved children, Patricia Baker, Robert DuBois & Sally, and Diane DuBois & Claude. She was a proud grandmother to Jason Baker and Matthew Baker, who is married to Jessica, and a devoted great-grandmother to Logan and Lily Baker. Gertrude was also the proud owner of her fur baby, Cherie, and adored her grandfurbaby, Rielle.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert DuBois, and her parents, Gertrude and Theodore Pilger. They have been waiting for her in heaven but knew we needed her. It comforts us to know that she will be greeted with open arms.
A visitation in honor of Gertrude will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at O. B. Davis Funeral Homes, located at 1001 Route 25A, Miller Place, NY 11764. We will gather on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 10:00 AM, also at O. B. Davis Funeral Homes for a brief prayer, funeral procession to her final place of rest, Pinelawn Memorial Park in Farmingdale, NY.
Gertrude will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
The DuBois family asks that in lieu of flowers donations are made to the American Heart Association, Long Island Cares, or Trinity Outreach in Gertrude's name.
