

Kosciuk- Claudette of Miller Place, NY, passed away on March 19, 2021. Claudette was 82 years old. She is lovingly remembered by her family as a wonderful wife to John Kosciuk for 56 years, mother of 5 sons: Jean-Pierre, Bernard, Marc, Dominique, and Christopher, grandmother of 5 grandchildren: Kelly, Meghan, James, Daniel and Emma and mother-in-law to Tracy and Susan. Claudette was the youngest of 14 children born in Quebec, Canada. She was predeceased by her parents Cécile and Adelard Fortin as well as her other 13 siblings. She was known and loved by many as the Director of Music and cantor at St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church for over 40 years. Her passion for music and love of God was shared with over 2,000 children and adults in the parish choir. Claudette graduated from her high school, Couvent du St. Esprit, with the distinction of Valedictorian and was an extremely talented pianist, organist and singer, earning her Bachelor's degree in Music from Université Laval in Quebec City as a young woman. She will be remembered by her family for her patience, strong will, perseverance in the face of hardship and of course her amazing French-Canadian cooking. She instilled in them a love of family, faith, friends, and country. One of her proudest moments was becoming a United States citizen in 1998. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, teaching them how to sew, knit and play music. She is described by them as the perfect grandmother and the most genuine and beautiful person they have ever met. Claudette was deeply religious and was devoted to helping others. She influenced countless lives around her.
The family invites visitors to join them in remembering and honoring Claudette at O.B. Davis Funeral Home in Miller Place, NY, on Wednesday March 24, 2021, from 4-8pm. A church service will be held at 9:30am on Thursday March 25, 2021 at St. Louis de Montfort, Sound Beach, NY. Claudette will be laid to rest, following the service at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Coram, NY.
