Richard E. Brown, 93, peacefully passed away on August 20, 2023, in SLC, Utah, surrounded by his loved ones. He is survived by his three children: Richard W. Brown, Ivy A. Brown, Jason C. Brown, and his three grandchildren: Richard J. Brown, Chase J. Brown, and Jackson J. Woolley. He is also survived by his sister, Georganne Lewis, and many nieces and nephews who held a special place in their hearts for him. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene M. Brown, his mother Anna A. Fowler, and his sister Dolly Smith.
Richard, fondly known as Dick, started from humble beginnings and worked hard to create a prosperous life for himself and his family. He served in the Air Force from 1950-1954 as a B-29 specialist and propeller mechanic with the 756th Bomb Squadron, earning the "Good Conduct Medal." Alongside his military service, he showcased his physical strength through acrobatics and bodybuilding competitions. He also attended the University of Utah from 1957-1958 before discovering his talent in business.
Dick was a visionary who possessed an unwavering commitment to hard work and discipline. He, along with his wife and children, built a substantial real estate portfolio. From 2008 until 2023, he served on the Board of Directors for Ridgeline Credit Union.
Known for his quiet strength and integrity, Dick always spoke with candor and simplicity. He was a genuine and authentic individual, staying true to his values. He felt a deep sense of responsibility to lend a helping hand without being asked and had a lifelong compassion for those less fortunate. He was known for his generosity and willingness to provide support to others.
With a positive outlook and a great sense of humor, Dick approached life with optimism. His corny jokes and unique perspective on problems brought laughter and wisdom to those around him. Many considered him a mentor, role model, and a shining example of how to live life.
Dick had a passion for outdoor adventures. He loved riding his Harley Davidson, up to the age of 86. He visited national parks and drove the Alaska Highway twice. He continued his active lifestyle until the age of 91, regularly working out at VASA Fitness 3-4 days a week and often joking with the younger generation.
Throughout his life, Dick lived with good intentions and inspired countless people with his unwavering support, love, and humility. He helped others without expecting anything in return. His legacy will forever be remembered.

A funeral service will be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary on September 9, 2023, at noon where we will lay both Richard and Darlene in their final resting place.

A celebration of life will be held at 2277 East Bengal Blvd, Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121 from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm following the graveside service. Food will be provided.
