Rafael was preceded by his parents Ramon Vega Vega and Carmen Teresa Gonzalez, his brothers Ramon, Bernardo and Manolo and his sister Regina. He is survived by his wife Maria Victoria, his sister Argelia, his sons Juan Alberto and Milton, six grandchildren and other family members.
Rafael was born in San Antonio de Los Baños, Havana, Cuba on October 12th 1928. At a very early age, he started working in his father's business: Autos Vega, as a stock clerk. Also, early in his life, he discovered his passion for dance; he became a self-taught professional dancer and choreographer.
He married Maria Victoria on December 8th 1973. Because of political restrictions, he was forced to leave his country and move to Gijon, Spain where he lived until 1989. After seven years of waiting, he was able to come to the United States.
He enjoyed watching sports, doing “alphabet soups” and politics. After becoming a US. citizen, he was able to vote in presidential elections. He always kept a clear mind and excellent memory. He passed away peacefully in the company of his son Milton and his daughter-in-law Sonia. Rafael will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 30th 10:00 Viewing, 11:00 Funeral. Burial immediately after.
