Paul Dudley Keller Jr.

Paul Dudley Keller, Jr., a true "Utah Man", passed away on August 1, 2016. He was born February 22, 1941 to Dr. Paul D. Keller and Maurine Flint Keller. Paul attended the Stuart Elementary School where he made many lifelong friends. He graduated from East High School. He attended the University of Utah and graduated with a BS Degree in Business in 1965. While at the University Paul was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, where he served as president of the chapter. He was a member of both the Owl & Key and Skull & Bones Honor Societies. He served as Class President during his junior year.

He married Pamela Farrell Keller in 1964 (they later divorced) and the couple relocated to San Francisco, California. There he worked for Cudahy Meat Packing Company and attended the Golden Gate College where he earned his M.B.A. Degree. He then moved to the Chicago area where he started his own business, Kelco Foods, Inc. He continued to run his successful business for over 40 years.

While in Chicago, he served on the Board of Directors for both the Museum of Modern Art and Exmoor Country Club, where he was a longtime member. In 1990, Paul moved back to his hometown, Salt Lake City. He served as President of the Men's Council of the University Museum of Fine Arts and was on the Board of Directors for Red Butte Gardens. Paul was an avid supporter and generous donor to the University of Utah.

Paul also served as President of The Country Club where he spent many happy hours playing golf and bridge. "Keller" created fun wherever he went. He loved any kind of game - many of which he created himself. He loved music and played it loud. When his children were small, he tortured them with hours of "music appreciation." He was energetic, enthusiastic, generous and larger than life. These traits made him loved by many - he was a people's person.

Twelve years ago Paul met his soul mate, Robyn Carter Keller. They spent many years together playing golf, traveling and enjoying each other's company. They enjoyed a great party on a Saturday night or spending time together on a Sunday afternoon watching golf with their dogs. He had a great sense of fun and humor, seeing the positive in all facets of life.

Paul is survived by his wife, Robyn Carter Keller. He will be missed by his brother-in-law, Thomas Carter, and niece and nephew, Beth and Will Carter. He is survived by his three children, Patty Keller Biedermann, Maurine Keller Thornton (Mike), and Paul D. Keller III (Nathalie). He will be missed by his six grandchildren Madison, Cole, Chandler, and Baylor Biedermann; Paul Dudley Keller IV, and Charlotte Keller, who all called him "Kelco". He is survived by siblings David F. Keller, Stephen A. Keller, Virginia Keller Pia, and Tammy Keller Hall, as well as many nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by his dogs, Bert and Louie.

A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of Paul's life at The Country Club (2400 Country Club Drive) for family and friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paul's name to The Nature Conservancy, Great Basin Unit (559 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah 84102) or a charity of your choice .
