LeRoy Eccles Petersen passed away October 10, 2013, in Ivins, Utah where he and Ruthe have been living for the last three weeks. LeRoy was born to Peter Melvin Petersen and Viona Leta Banks on December 14, 1918 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
LeRoy has been a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in numerous positions including missions to Northern California and to Hawaii with Ruthe. He served his country in the Merchant Marine as a Ship's Engineer during WWII on Liberty and Victory ships. He started and ran a successful HVAC business.
He is survived by his wife, Ruthe Terry Petersen, children Ruth Lynn (David) Thorpe, James LeRoy (Margaret) Petersen, Scott Terry (Barbara) Petersen, sister Elizabeth Kranwinkle, brother Orville Petersen, 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Viewings will be 6:30-8:00 P.M. Monday, October 14 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive, Salt Lake City and 1 hour before the 11:00 A.M. service on Tuesday, October 15 at the LDS chapel at 4568 Holladay Blvd, Salt Lake City. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Donations in lieu of flowers to LDS Church Missionary fund.
