He listed in the Air Force in June of 63’ and was trained to be a Jet Engine Mechanic. After returning home from the service he became a smoke jumper for the Idaho State Forest Service.
He moved to Salt Lake in 1967 and worked at Sperry Univac which later became Unisys for 25 years where he worked on printed circuit boards. Larry and Valerie served a LDS mission for 2 1/2 years in the Drug and Addiction Recovery Program. He was an avid armchair sports fan. He loved reading, camping, his cat Lucky, his family and cooking which he was very good at. Family favorites were his homemade chicken noodle soup; a dish called Mataglese, which is a German cottage cheese dumpling; delicious spaghetti sauce with a secret ingredient; and his most famous carrot cake which was a big hit and requested for many funerals, though most of it stayed in the kitchen because it was so good the helpers wanted it. He was very patriotic, he had a group of friends that played Trivial Pursuit four times a year for over 35 years. Larry could always answer the sports questions.
Larry is survived by his wife Valarie; daughters Julie (Cory Rich) and Linda Wiggill; sons Daniel, Ronald, and Larry (Jodi); Brother Jerry (Ellen), 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph Edmund Wells and Ester Marie Lehl, and Uncles Dan and Leroy.
