Kathy was born on December 8, 1951 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ronald Marr and Helen Mary Hazis Hansen. Kathy had one daughter Lisa who she loved dearly and later received another precious gift her granddaughter Aubrie who was the light of her life.
My mom was an amazing person and touched so many lives. She was a loving and caring person. Growing up with 4 younger siblings she was a natural born caregiver and cared deeply for her siblings. She was a fun big sister and loved taking care of them. She loved playing with and talking to her nephews and nieces and great nieces. She was especially excited to be a great Aunt again later this year to a great nephew. She attended Jackson Elementary/Jr. High and then West High School. She was a panther through and through. She made friends to last a lifetime as she was still in contact with a lot of her childhood friends to this day. She loved attending weddings, birthday parties, graduations and really any type of fun party to celebrate someone. She had a smile that would light up a room and an infectious laugh that made you laugh even harder. She had a very classy sense of style and was always known for it! Always dressed to the nines from head to toe wherever she went.
My mom retired from the State of Utah after 30 years of dedication and service. She was a dedicated employee and helped everyone she could with compassion. Although she made so many lifelong friends who became more like her second family there she was excited to retire and spend more time with her Aubrie. Her compassionate heart lead her to volunteer at the LDS Hospital after retirement as well and she really loved it there helping wherever needed.
My Mom instilled so many wonderful values and strengths in myself and Aubrie that we will carry with us the rest of our lives! One of her favorite things to do with Aubrie was cruise in her convertible with the top down listening to the latest music and getting ice cream. Those two share a bond that no one would ever know just how truly strong it is! They laughed together, read together, watched Qubo and talked for hours about nothing at all and everything at the same time.
Eight years ago my Mom met the love of her life Floyd. They were inseparable. They shared the same birthday and loved to celebrate it together. They loved to go for rides, listen to classic rock and go camping. Floyd was her rock and cared for her deeply. He was there for her through thick and thin and always had a shoulder to lean on. He was there for every doctor appointment, every hospital visit as well as care for her in any way. She loved him deeply and he loved her deeply!
Kathy is survived by her only daughter Lisa, her beautiful granddaughter Aubrie, her mother Helen Hansen, and her four siblings, Mike Hansen, Todd (Terri) Hansen, Janet Murphy and Heidi Hansen. Her nephews and nieces, Justin (Heather) Hansen, Eleni Murphy, TJ (Katie) Hultquist, Demi Hultquist and Ty Hultquist. Great nieces, Meridian and Ariya Hansen and Baby Boy Hansen coming soon. Many aunts, uncles and cousins. She is preceded in death by her father Ronald Marr Hansen whom she loved with all her heart, her grandparents, aunts and uncles.
Mom you will be missed more than you will ever know! I can’t imagine life without you and I really don’t know who is going to make sure I’m doing what I’m supposed to. I love you so much! Thank you for being my rock when I needed you and didn’t know I did!
Grandma I will miss you more than you will ever know! I love you to the moon and back!
We would like to thank the Huntsman Home Care Hospice for all the wonderful care and compassion they showed my mom and our family at this very difficult time.
